CAIR is the national representative body of over 7,500 Resident Physicians in Canada. CAIR works collaboratively with other national health organizations to continuously improve patient care and explore new approaches in the delivery of health care. CAIR facilitates discussions amongst PHOs, achieving consensus on policy and advocacy issues of a national interest. CAIR delivers improvements to the lives of Residents in such areas as personal well-being, medical education quality, and professionalism.
CAIR will be a vibrant national organization uniting, promoting and serving Canada's Resident Physicians. Nationally, CAIR will advance a professional image and recognition for the value of Residents in health care delivery, and collaborate with various stakeholders to improve educational opportunities, accreditation and resident financial challenges. Regionally, CAIR will facilitate interchange, issue identification and the development of national policy in concert with affiliated Provincial Housestaff Organizations (PHOs), provide programs for areas of common need, and assist PHOs to improve their effectiveness. Personally, CAIR members will see the direct benefit of membership as a result of services, programs and products which help them achieve their professional development, transition-to-practice, and personal/family goals.
Volunteers, staff and Board members commit to living these values as we work together to achieve our Vision and pursue our Mission:
